Content Creation - Pie & Ball:

Beginning simply with me and my brother & a rusty video camera at our house back in 2010. To today - where my own co-founded football social media brand Pie & Ball Productions has garnered over 2.5 million views, almost 20,000 followers & over 160,000 likes in just over a year of being in operation, social content creation has always been near and dear to my heart, & the pieces of work listed below just touch the tip of the iceberg of the experience I have within this field.

- What is Pie & Ball?

Pie & Ball is a football social media brand created in 2022 by (myself) Dan McNeice alongside Patric Bathgate, Samuel Corlett & Finlay Coleman.

The idea began whilst the four of us studied at the University of Salford, as all of us were passionate about football, frequently visiting local matches - and the idea to create football based short-form social media content documenting those matches sounded like something fun to do for us alongside our studies.

It all started as a joke almost, but since recording our first episode at West Didsbury & Chorlton's home game vs Macclesfield FC in September of 2022, the series' popularity boomed. Over 3,00,000 views, almost 160,000 likes, nearly 20,000 followers and a new studio-based podcast later - we're still here, still creating, & still loving football! Not many people can say they have achieved a feat like that at just 22 years of age.

Social channels:

Pie & Ball currently operates across three separate social channels: TikTok, Instagram & YouTube - all of which are primarily run by myself. TikTok is our primary platform - with our match specific episodes, which detail, rank, and value our visits to the chosen game, as well as clips from 'The Concourse' podcast being uploaded via this medium. Our Instagram also houses episode uploads (albeit shorter versions due to Instagram reels' 90-second time limit) as well as unique, exclusive photographical content (much of which can be seen in the above gallery). The latest content from our Instagram feed can be viewed & accessed via the below section.

Our YouTube primarily houses our studio-based podcast titled: 'The Concourse', in which the presenter (myself) engages in football discussion with guests, featuring specific segments and games for fans & viewers to engage with. We are always trying to develop our content on Pie & Ball, and we have many ideas in the pipeline that we would love to expand upon. Links to those social channels and any unmentioned content on this webpage can be seen and accessed via the three corresponding buttons below.

Podcast Clips:

Since launching our new podcast titled 'The Concourse' (more information below) we have also begun uploading short-form podcast clips to our social media channels, the reason for this is that we desire to start uploading daily content to our channels, and we simply cannot do that with just episodes alone. Two of these clips are featured below, with one introducing the podcast, and the second featuring a segment titled 'Bell Knowdlege'. This segment is one where we teach our non-football interested friend (Riley Bell - hence 'Bell' Knowledge) football trivia week by week, progressing his knowledge of the sport as weeks continue. All other uploaded podcast clips can be seen via our TikTok account.

Pie & Ball episodes:

The main form of content of the Pie & Ball brand are our weekly episodes (fully edited & voiced over by myself). These episodes consist of a member of the team visiting a game, and documenting their experiences for fans who may desire to visit the given team's home ground, ultimately with the goal of giving the entire matchday experience a rating out of ten.

Matches are ranked out of ten on four criteria: Match - assessing the quality of the game itself that we witness. Crowd - assessing the quality of the two set of fans and their support of their teams. Ground - assessing the quality of the stadium of the home team and its facilities. And finally Scran (or food for any non-football folk) - assessing the quality of food/beverages on offer inside/around the ground. The total score of these will be averaged to conduct a final rating for the day's overall experience.

So far, we have already we have been lucky enough to visit such places as Inter Milan's San Siro, Sport Lisboa Benfica's Estadio Da Luz, Feyenoord & The Netherlands' De Kuip Stadium, & even a visit to Vietnam for games on the account! Eight of the latest episodes can be viewed below, and all other uploads can be seen via our TikTok account (linked).

'The Concourse' Podcast:

Last year, we launched Pie & Ball's most ambitious project yet, 'The Concourse' Podcast (hosted by myself). This one of a kind, studio-based, football chat show had it's first episode uploaded to our YouTube in November of 2023, & can be watched below!
